Toyota is launching a new electric sports coupe and electric SUV

More is slowly becoming clear about the news that Toyota will bring to the Japan Mobility Show later this month. Toyota not only has a conceptual electric crossover ready, the brand is also bringing a spectacular precursor of an electric sports coupe to the auto show.

Future Toyota. That is what the letters ‘FT’ stand for in the model names of these FT-3e and FT-Se study models that will make their debut later this month during the Japan Mobility Show. We’ll start with the most visually interesting of the bunch: the Toyota FT-Se. That is not an electric crossover like the FT-3e, but a sporty electric coupe!

To start with the bad news: we do not yet have extensive technical specifications for the Toyota FT-Se. We do know that in theory it shares its technical basis with the FT-3e. Toyota describes the car as a “[…] sports car of the CO2-neutral era” that “grows with the driver thanks to software updates.” The coupe presented as a GR model (Gazoo Racing) has strong curves all around and at the back we already see flat wide headlights, a large diffuser and a rear spoiler integrated into the tailgate. Toyota also shows something of the interior of the FT-Se. We not only see a digital instrument cluster and a small vertically oriented display to the right of the steering wheel, but also a third screen that is to the left of the steering wheel is housed. Toyota may be hinting at the arrival of a sporty and electrically powered alternative to the Supra with the FT-Se, although it does not yet say anything about production plans.

Then the FT-3e. The FT-3e is an electric crossover “[…] of the next generation” and, like the FT-Se, is peppered with corners and creases on the outside. The car has a fairly flat rear window and horizontal rear lights. Toyota has not yet released any specifications about this car and the brand is also not yet talking about production plans. not a word.
