Toyota is recalling more than 5.8 million cars worldwide, built between 2013 and 2020, for a fuel pump failure, the Japanese brand announced. The malfunction could cause the fuel pump to fail. In the Netherlands, the number of recalled cars with 299 copies remains relatively limited.
The recall of Toyota and Lexus mainly concerns models that are not delivered in our country. This includes the Toyota Highlander, Sienna, Avalon and Sequoia. At Lexus, the LS 460 and GS 350 are the bobbin. According to Toyota, the problem causes the fuel pump to stop working, causing the vehicle to logically shut down and prevent it from being started. It is not clear what exactly the defect lies. Affected owners will in any case receive a new fuel pump in their car free of charge.
Toyota Netherlands says in a response to Techzle that in our country it concerns 299 cars exclusively from Lexus. According to the spokesman, these are ‘multiple models’, but the popular CT, UX and NX remain out of harm’s way. The owners of the affected cars will be notified automatically. This recall does not mean much compared to previous Toyota recall campaigns. For example, in 2018, just under 40,000 Priuses and Aurises were recalled due to a problem with the software.
