The new Toyota Tundra exchanged its V8 for two powertrains with a V6, one of which is also equipped with hybrid technology. The new Tundra now gets an old-fashioned thick V8, but nothing is as it seems.

Toyota still hangs a mighty eight-cylinder in the Tundra, but not in the way you would expect. The flattened Tundra in the photos is the Nascar version of the pick-up. In fact, it is in fact not a real Tundra at all. Toyota’s entry for the new Nascar Camping World Truck season is technically identical to the other racers in that class.

All cars participating in the Nascar Camping World Truck Series are based on a tubular steel frame and have a 2.85 meter long wheelbase. In addition, they are all 5.25 meters long, 1.52 meters high and 2.03 meters wide. All race cars in this class, in fact the entry-level series of the Nascar world, have a 5.9 liter V8 with valve lifters, which on paper delivers a peak power of up to 700 hp and 700 Nm. In fact, the Tundra in these photos is technically identical to the Nascar racing version of the previous Tundra (photo 6), but Toyota has been able to screw the new Tundra nose onto the colossus. Incidentally, Toyota also participates in the Nascar classes with other models. For example, the brand has developed a racer with Camry looks for the Cup Series (photo 7) and is participating in the Xfinity class with a car that looks like the Supra.
