Toyota Yaris also from the Czech Republic

Like the previous Aygo, Toyota will produce the new Aygo X in the Czech Republic. The car will soon be produced there from the production line with which the Aygo X shares its platform. Toyota is adding the Yaris to the production portfolio of its Czech factory.

Since almost immediately after the introduction of the first generation Yaris, Toyota has been producing versions of that model for the European market in Valenciennes, France. Toyota will now also produce the Yaris at a second location in Europe: the Czech Republic.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Czech Republic (TMMCZ) in Kolín, Czech, is the second European birthplace of the Yaris. Toyota can add the Yaris to that facility now that that factory is wholly owned by Toyota. Previously, the partnership between Toyota, Peugeot and Citroën – the C1 and 108 were also built there – managed that factory. Toyota has said it has pumped more than €180 million into the factory to get it ready for production on the TNGA-B platform that sits under both the Yaris and Aygo X.

Toyota will build both the Yaris with conventional petrol engines and the Yaris Hybrid in the Czech Republic. Fun fact: in the Netherlands, more than 90 percent of Yaris customers opt for the hybrid version.
