TrayStatus – all indicators at a glance

Do you have a notebook, laptop or desktop PC with a data keyboard that does not have NumLock or CapsLock lights? Then it may just happen that you do not notice that those buttons are on or off. In that case TrayStatus is recommended. This gem also indicates a few other things, such as the activity of the hard disk.

Step 1: Autostart

You get this utility www.traystatus.com where you set during installation that you want the Dutch-language setting. Also indicate that the software should start when you turn on the computer.

TrayStatus is a small tool that adds some useful features to the operating system. The software is free, but you can use the paid version ($ 7.50) for the first thirty days, which includes more features. After that, the software automatically switches to the functionality of TrayStatus Free, unless you pay. But for most people, the free version will do.

Let the program start automatically at the same time as the system.

Step 2: Which indicators?

When you first open the tool, you will come to the Settings. There you will also immediately see the difference between the free and the paid version, because the pro functions are marked in blue. In the first tab you can indicate that the software is used simultaneously with Windows should start, if you forgot to do so during installation. In the second tab, Status Indicators, you must indicate which indicators you want to see. You have a huge choice. The main indicators are, of course, the indicators of the CapsLock, NumLock and ScrollLock keys. But you can also activate other indicators, for example to display the activity of the hard disk and the CPU usage.

Step 3: Display

Finally, you can also choose from the different colors for these indicators. Preferably choose a display that contrasts with the theme of the taskbar. For example, do you go for the institution Dark icons with green, the dark NumLock indicator will turn green when you activate this lock. On some systems, not all icons are visible in the system tray and you may just want to see the icons somewhere in the taskbar at the bottom of the desktop. You can easily solve this by clicking the indicator in the system tray and dragging the left mouse button to the taskbar. That way he always stays in the picture.
