Triumph has rolled out a recall for quite a few models from its Modern Classic family. The wires in the alternator connector can potentially short in extreme conditions.

Triumph rolls out recall for Modern Classic; alternator connector can melt

In September 2022, Triumph received initial warranty claims indicating potential overheating and melting of the alternator connector, prompting an investigation by its quality department.

Research showed that on certain models the wiring routing was too tight, allowing the wires to make contact at high temperatures and cause a short circuit.

Service Bulletin SB615 was launched in March 2024 as a solution to this problem, but this proved to be insufficient. In September 2024, Triumph received two reports of fire, but SB615 had not been implemented on both motorcycles.

On October 15, the Recall committee decided to convert Service Bulletin SB615 into an official recall. A new clip for the wiring will be installed at the Triumph dealer, which should solve the problem.

The recall affects the 2022-2024 Bonneville T100, 2022-2024 Bonneville T120 and T120 Black, the 2023-2024 Schrambler 900, 2023-2024 Speed Twin 900, 2022 Street Scrambler and Street Scrambler Sandstorm, and last but not least the 2022 Street Twin and Street Twin Goldline.
