Several apps on the device send these notifications to alert the user to an event. For example, you will receive a notification when you receive a WhatsApp message. This can cause anxiety. Get more rest and turn off the notifications.
Turn off notifications during lock
To stop getting notifications when the screen is locked, follow the steps below. You will still receive notifications when you are working with the device.
- Open the app overview by tapping apps or swipe from bottom to top on the screen (Android 8.0 or later).
- Tap on Institutions.
- Tap on screen comp. and secure. or lock screen.
- Tap on notifications.
- Tap the slider behind All apps (Android 7.0) or On (Android 8.0 or later), so it will be grayed out.
Notifications by app
Do you mainly experience nuisance from specific apps? Then block all notifications per app on a device with Android 7.0 or 8.0. The app will then no longer provide notifications at all. It does not matter whether the phone is locked or whether you are working with the phone.
- Tap on apps > Institutions.
- Tap on screen comp. and secure. or Lock screen.
- Tap on notifications.
- On Android 8.0, first tap Show notifications from.
- An overview of all apps that send notifications opens. Scroll to the app whose notifications you want to turn off.
- Tap the slider behind the app so that it turns gray.
- Repeat for all desired apps.
