You can set up your own WiFi hotspot with an Android phone. This can be useful if you want to access the internet with multiple devices, but no WiFi network is available. We will explain in this article how to set up a WiFi hotspot with an Android smartphone.
Of course, you don’t create a WiFi hotspot to let the entire neighborhood surf the web via your subscription. You can therefore also set your own SSID and a password connect to it. Only people you allow to connect (or anyone who knows your credentials) can use it.
Set up wireless connection
Search on your smartphone for Settings. Then select Connections and choose for it More networks. Here you see the option Tethering and portable hotspot stand. Press this and you can access Portable Wi-Fi hotspot create a WiFi hotspot. First click on the name and press Configure. Here you can enter an SSID (username) and password. When you’re done, press Save.
Allowed devices
At the top you will get the name of your just configured network connection to see. Below is indicated who you allow to use the WiFi hotspot. If you press the name of your connection, you can choose whether to All devices or Allowed devices only want to connect. With All devices anyone can access your connection if they can enter the corresponding password.
With the devices you choose, you can connect devices via bluetooth or add them to Allowed apps at the bottom left of your screen, then on + at the top right of your screen and then enter the device name and MAC address. You turn the connection on and off with the switch Portable Wi-Fi hotspot to put.
