525 hp is a joke

At about the same time as the announcement of the (Land Rover) Defender Octa, that bizarrely strong version appeared on the Nürburgring-Nordschleife.
For powerful Defenders you don’t just have to go to Bowler. Defender (nowadays a real brand) itself can also do something about it. It already proved that three years ago with the Defender V8, now there is a version that should even put the Defender V8 in the shade. Defender even has a completely new name for it: Octa. The name, Latin for ‘eight’, already indicates that this variant also has an eight-cylinder in its nose. One that delivers even more power. Even more so; it will be the strongest Defender ever.
Exactly how much power remains a mystery. Unfortunately, we cannot see that on these spy shots. We do see that the Defender Octa has extended wheel arches, not without reason, because the track width is wider than usual. The Defender Octa has a large grille in its nose to provide sufficient cooling for the powerful biturbo V8. Its roar comes from four trapezoidal exhaust tips. It is also clear that the Defender must hold its own in rough terrain, because even on the Nordschleife the Octa runs on Goodyear Wrangler off-road tires. The presentation of the Defender Octa will follow later this year.
