Update apps on iPad and iPhone

It is a good idea to regularly update apps on an iPhone or iPad. This way you always use the latest version of every app.

Owners of an iPhone or iPad use different apps on the device. Think of Nu.nl for the latest news or Facebook to communicate with friends. Developers regularly release new updates for their apps. In this way, for example, they improve the appearance of the app or add functions. Developers also make the apps more secure through updates.

Preferably update apps on an iPhone or iPad automatically. You will then always use the latest version of each app.

  • Tap on Institutions.
  • Tap on App Store (from iOS 14/iPadOS 14) or iTunes Store and App Store (iOS 13/iPadOS 13).
  • Under ‘Automatic downloads’, tap the slider behind App update so that the scroll bar turns green.
  • Want to save mobile data and only update apps when the device is connected to a Wi-Fi network? Then tap under ‘Mobile data’ on the green slide behind Automatic downloads. The bar turns gray and the function is turned off.

You can also update apps manually. Determine for each app whether you want to install the new update.

  • Next to the apps you want to update, tap Work at.
  • It is also possible to update all apps at the same time. In that case, tap Update all.
