New record, small cars are rapidly increasing in price
Few things are really certain, but that used cars are becoming more and more expensive is certain. Autoscout24.nl reports that the average price of the used cars offered on its website has reached a new record high. Never before have second-hand cars in the Netherlands been as expensive as they are now.
The average price of a used car on Autoscout24.nl is currently no less than €24,428. That’s a new record. The previous record was set in June this year. At that time, a second-hand car on Autoscout24.nl still cost an average of €23,337. The new record is therefore 2.6 percent above that.
According to information from Autoscout24.nl, a second-hand car now costs an average of 10.2 percent more than at the beginning of this year. Particularly used smaller and therefore often more economical cars are increasing rapidly in price. Compact models became an average of 5.7 percent more expensive in October. By way of comparison: the prices of used mid-sized cars rose on average by 3 percent in October.
It was very likely that the average price of a used car would also break a record in the Netherlands. In September, the Netherlands was the only European country where the used car price did not reach a new record high, but we must believe it in October as well.
