Using Spotify in the browser

With a catalog of thirty million songs, Spotify has something for every music lover. You can also listen to the music from Spotify without installing the app (or the program). Play music from the browser using the Spotify Web Player. This requires a (free) Spotify account. Don’t have an account yet? Read in the article ‘Spotify’ (under ‘Create an account’) how to get an account.

The Spotify app and the web player work broadly the same. Only the web player has fewer options. For example, the Radio function is not available and the option ‘Browse’ is missing. You can do a targeted search for artists, albums or songs.

Open Spotify’s web player like this:

• Go to open.spotify.com.
• Click on the top right login.
• click on Email or username and type the email address or username you chose for the account.
• click on password and type the corresponding password.
  • It is also possible to log in with a Facebook or Apple account. In that case click on Continue with Facebook or on Continue with Apple, and enter your login details.

You are logged in and can use Spotify.

As mentioned, the web player and the installed version of Spotify work about the same. However, the web player looks slightly different. The menu is shown on the left. What you click here will be displayed in the main window on the right.

• In the web player on the left, click on Home. In the main window, you can see what music you recently played. Below that, Spotify shows ready-made playlists. Click on a playlist to see what music the list contains. Double click to start a playlist immediately
• Click in the menu on the left To search to search for artists, albums and songs in a targeted manner, so that you can, for example, put them in your own playlist.
• below Library lists the playlists you have created. Click on ‘Playlists’, ‘Podcasts’, ‘Artists’ or ‘Albums’ at the top of the main window to find the items you are following.
