The small Indian manufacturer Vazirani is making itself heard again. The company is releasing the first photos of the curiously named Ekonk, an electric car that can breathe.
In mid-2018, India’s Vazirani gave a sign of life with the Schul, an electrical extremist now joined by the Ekonk. The Vazirani Ekonk is a concept car with a stubborn appearance and a particularly low weight. According to Vazirani, it is even the lightest electric car ever. The Ekonk, which is mainly made of carbon fiber, weighs only 738 kilos.
Vazirani is still keeping detailed technical specifications under wraps, although the company does report that the car has a 732 hp electric powertrain that fires the apparently slippery open single-seater to 100 km/h in 2.54 seconds. According to Vazirani, the Ekonk doesn’t have a heavy-duty cooling system to cool the batteries, but has “looked closely at how animals and humans regulate their body temperature.” The batteries could ‘breathe’, making the Ekonk a ‘living car’, according to Vazriani. Farfetched? That’s how it sounds, although the concept is interesting on paper. Vazirani doesn’t say a word about production plans, but does say that his battery cooling technology called Dico is “available for the whole world”.
