First fuel cell truck this summer from Eindhoven
While there are strikes at VDL Nedcar in Born, VDL Special Vehicles in Eindhoven is adding a new major customer to its portfolio: Toyota. VDL Special Vehicles will produce trucks with a fuel cell on board for Toyota Motor Europe.
VDL Group has found a new partner in Toyota Motor Europe (TME). This summer, the first hydrogen truck from Toyota, with a fuel cell on board, will be running off the line at VDL Special Vehicles in Eindhoven. It does not stop with a single copy. In the autumn, more hydrogen trucks – based on a DAF CF – will roll off the production line.
Toyota says it uses its hydrogen trucks on logistics routes of Toyota Motor Europe. So it’s not about copies that go on sale. Toyota says, among other things, that it wants to gather knowledge about the use of such trucks with its first hydrogen trucks.
