On to the new Ypsilon

The Lancia Ypsilon has been discontinued in the Netherlands for about six years, but in its home country of Italy it is still a car of great significance. In 2022, the Lancia Ypsilon even had a record year!
The Lancia Ypsilon, which disappeared from the Dutch market in mid-2017, is still for sale in Italy. It is the only model that Lancia still offers. And not without reason, because the model cannot be found in Italy. After the Fiat Panda – a technical brother of the Ypsilon – it was the best-selling car in Italy. Last year, almost 41,000 copies were sold. The market share of the Lancia Ypsilon was a huge 15.3 percent, 1.2 percentage points higher than in 2021. A record for the little Italian. To put that in perspective: in the Netherlands, the Volkswagen T-Roc was the most registered new passenger car in 2022, accounting for a market share of 2.65 percent.
It is therefore not surprising that Lancia not only continues to deliver the Ypsilon in Italy, but also gives a small update almost every year. For example, the Ypsilon went under the knife again in December 2022, probably for the last time. Stellantis is busy putting Lancia back on the market. This includes the arrival of a number of new models, including a new Ypsilon. Initially, Stellantis only announced that the new Ypsilon will be presented in 2024, but now we also know exactly when. The new Lancia Ypsilon will make its public debut on June 30, 2024.
Of course it does not stop with a new Ypsilon. That always electric hatchback will have a big brother in 2026 in the form of a new flagship. That may be called Aurelia. Lancia will then introduce a new Delta in 2028.
