Vespa has completely renewed its GTS scooter family for model year 2023. The new GTS family is available in 125 and 300cc, in the model variants GTS, GTS Super, GTS Super Sport and GTS Super Tech.
Vespa GTS will undoubtedly go down in history as one of the world’s most beloved scooters, emanating from the legendary “Vespone”, the name given to those Vespas with a larger, strictly steel body. Vespas to drive elegantly through the city, but also ready to travel, or even adventurous thanks to their increasingly powerful engines.
Launched in 2003 with the launch of the GT 125 and 200, the Vespa family continued to grow in 2005, with the arrival of the GTS 250 and the subsequent improvement in performance by single-cylinder engines up to 300 cc.
In 2016, Vespa GTS benefited from the family of i-get engines, in 125 and 150cc versions. In 2019, the 300 HPE engine was launched, with over 23 hp, the most powerful ever on a Vespa, as well as the SuperTech version, the first large Vespa equipped with a TFT color display.
For 2023, the Italians have further improved the entire Vespa GTS range, combining the unique Vespa styling with a series of technical updates to increase safety, comfort and that proverbial attention to the stylistic details.
Packed with standard equipment, the new Vespa GTS range includes four variants, each with its own character, according to the Italians: the classic and very elegant Vespa GTS, the contemporary GTS Super, the rugged GTS SuperSport and the ultra-technological Vespa GTS SuperTech. All four GTS variants feature new brakes, suspension and instrumentation, as well as keyless ignition and a range of 14 colours.
To start with the former, Vespa has equipped the GTS with new brake calipers and Brembo brake pumps, which have not only resulted in a significant reduction in braking distance, but also that less experienced novice motorcyclists will feel more comfortable during sporty use. Of course equipped with the latest generation Bosch ABS.
As for the suspension, Vespa has made updates to the front suspension that should have improved stability, especially at high speeds. The suspension calibration has been adjusted, which must also have contributed to comfort and road holding. And speaking of comfort: Vespa has also provided the GTS with a new saddle, which should offer even more comfort.
After the introduction of the TFT color display on the SuperTech version, the other versions now debut with a new instrumentation, more complete and better able to exploit the potential of the VESPA MIA connectivity system (standard on SuperSport and SuperTech, optional for the GTS and GTS Super).
Vespa speaks of “a perfect mix between the historic elegance of Vespa instruments and innovation”, consisting of the stylish analog speedometer, which now includes a 3″ LCD screen that shows a wide range of ride data (maximum speed, average speed, speed, current consumption, average consumption, range and battery status) and all notifications related to calls, messages and music, in cases where the vehicle is connected to the smartphone with the VESPA MIA system.
In terms of practicality and ease of use, the GTS has taken another step forward with the introduction of the keyless system, which allows the ignition to be activated without having to insert the traditional key into an ignition lock, enabling operations such as starting the engine. , opening the seat and locking the handlebar lock can all be done with the remote control.
The classic ignition switch with lock has been replaced by a practical button. To switch on the GTS, all you have to do is push that button (activating the start signal, accompanied by a welcome message in the instrument panel) and then switch it to the ON position. The engine is started in the usual way, via the start button on the right-hand side of the steering wheel.
