VIDEO REVIEW – The new Toyota Yaris Cross could be a hit

The Toyota Yaris Cross is on the same platform as the Yaris. It shares the 2.56-metre wheelbase with its hatchback brother, but has significantly larger front and rear overhangs, making it 24 centimeters longer. At 4.18 meters in length, it is about 20 centimeters shorter than the startlingly styled Toyota C-HR.

Toyota Yaris Cross with RAV4 elements

The design of the Yaris Cross is a lot more modest than that of the C-HR and at first glance has little to do with that of the Yaris. We especially see some elements of the large RAV4 in the lines of the Yaris Cross. Buyers can order the model in a striking golden yellow color, with wheels up to 18 inches in size.

Hybrid powertrain from the Toyota Yaris

Of course there is a hybrid powertrain under the body of the Toyota Yaris Cross. It is the same as in the Yaris, with a 1.5-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and an electric motor that together produce 116 hp. Toyota has not yet announced anything about consumption, but during our test of the Yaris it was already noticed that the powertrain is extremely economical, especially in the city.

Yaris Cross is available from 24,295 euros

But the Yaris Cross is also available without a hybrid drive. Then there is a 125 hp 1.5-litre petrol engine in the front. Coupled with a manual six-speed gearbox, it costs 24,295 euros. If you want a machine, you pay a minimum of 29,995 euros. The hybrid version is slightly above that, with a starting price of 30,995 euros.
