VinFast lands in the Netherlands this year and does so with four models, the VF6, VF7, VF8 and VF9. The specifications and prices of the latter two were already known, now we also know more about their smaller brothers.
The Vietnamese VinFast enters the Dutch market with the VF8 and VF9, two SUVs that are further apart in size than you might expect based on the names. The VF8 is approximately BMW X3-sized, while the VF9 is closer to the X7 at 5.12 in length. The specifications and Dutch prices of both models have already been announced, but the wait was still for those of the smaller VF6 and VF7 that will come later. That wait is now coming to an end. VinFast releases the first technical information in the United States. Please note; the specifications and versions may differ slightly in due course in the Netherlands.
VinFast VF6.
The VinFast VF6 rubs against the Peugeot 2008 and Renault Captur with its dimensions. It has a 59.6 kWh battery pack and a range of up to 400 km. That is with the 174 (American) horsepower Eco version. The 201 hp Plus variant comes 381 km (WLTP) far. The VF6 has one electric motor to do the job and it drives the front wheels. We also get to see the interior a bit better and VinFast reports that the central infotainment screen measures 12.9 inches.
VinFast VF7.
As said, the VinFast VF7 is a step higher in the market and may try to eat the cheese of the bread from the Volkswagen ID4 and Skoda’s Enyaq of this world. For this, it comes with a 75.3 kWh battery pack, which should enable a driving range of 431 km (Plus version) or 450 km (Eco version). The range differs little between the two variants, but the same cannot be said of the power. The VinFast VF7 Eco delivers 201 hp, while the Plus is good for no less than 349 hp. In addition, the Plus is four-wheel drive. We also get to see more of the interior with the VF7. Here you will find the same 12.9-inch infotainment screen as standard, but with the Plus it is a 15-inch copy. VinFast reports that over-the-air updates should keep both the VF6 and VF7 software fresh.
VinFast in the Netherlands
For the time being, we have to wait for more information that applies specifically to the Dutch market, but the above American figures already give an indication of what can be expected. VinFast must first make its European debut, because that was recently postponed.
