Volkswagen brings Chinese-built EV to Europe

The Volkswagen Group produces numerous models in China that it does not deliver to the Netherlands or Europe. Soon there will be a Chinese Volkswagen product from China to Europe, and it is also completely electric.

The list of Volkswagen Group models built in China for the local market and not even delivered in Europe is almost endless. Together with its Chinese production partners SAIC and FAW, Volkswagen sells cars such as the Tayron, Sagitar, Bora, Lamando, Teramont, Talagon, Tavandor and so on. Within Audi’s Chinese line-up, we encounter unknown car versions such as the electric variant of the Q2 and numerous extended sedans. To date, all Volkswagen Group cars built in China remain in that country, but one will soon be coming to Europe.

We are talking about the Cupra Tavascan, Cupra’s second fully electric model and the brand’s first electric SUV. Cupra’s brother of cars such as the Volkswagen ID4, Audi Q4 e-tron and Skoda Enyaq iV will also be built in China for the European market. That reports Automotive News. The Cupra Tavascan will see the light of day at the Volkswagen factory in Anhui because it would have too little production capacity in Europe.

The Cupra Tavascan is on the roll for 2024, but there is more Cupra news in the pipeline. For example, Cupra will also launch the Terramar in 2024 and will launch a small electric crossover in 2025: the UrbanRebel.
