‘Volkswagen brings e-Up back on the market’

Volkswagen would bring the fully electric e-Up back on the market. That claims Automobilwoche based on various German media.

The fully electric Volkswagen e-Up is currently no longer available as new, but that could change. Internal communication between Volkswagen and brand dealers would indicate that the e-Up will be included in the range again. Mind you, we are probably talking about German dealers here. The question of whether the e-Up will really return and that also applies to the Netherlands, is now with the importer.

Volkswagen would bring back its electric little one to enjoy a little longer in the further downwardly expanding market for electric cars. Think, for example, of relatively affordable new EVs such as the Dacia Spring and Fiat 500e.

The e-Up was there early, when it came on the market in 2014. In 2019, the e-Up received a refresher, with the improved range (260 km WLTP) in particular being an important plus. For a while, the e-Up was even the only Up that was still on offer, until the versions with a fuel engine returned in 2019. These are currently the only versions you can choose from, because until recently the e-Up was only available from stock. Also its brothers Seat Mii Electric and Skoda Citigo iV can no longer be ordered new.
