Volkswagen e-Golf continues longer due to problems ID.3

The Volkswagen e-Golf should clear the field this year in favor of the brand new ID.3, but it seems that the electric Golf 7 should last a little longer. The problems with the production of the ID.3 probably lie at the root of this.

Now that the new Golf 8 is on the market and the ID.3 is approaching, the Volkswagen e-Golf was no longer long-lived. That seemed to be the case, at least. From an ‘internal document’ from Volkswagen that the German rental company Nextmove After all, it appears that the production of the e-Golf will continue for the time being. Provided the production has been shut down due to corona, of course.

The all-electric Golf is expected to roll off the production line until week 45 of this year, the document shows. So the first week of November. That while the ID.3 would redeem the e-Golf already next summer. It is still possible to order the e-Golf until the beginning of October. Obviously, that is much longer than expected and so it seems that Volkswagen is responding in this way to a possible later arrival of the ID.3.

In recent months, worrying stories have surfaced about software problems among the important newcomer. According to the latest rumors from the factory itself, the end of the problems is not yet in sight and there is a risk of ‘a year delay’ from the introduction. Postponing the production shutdown of the e-Golf can be an important indication that the problems have indeed not yet been resolved.
