Volkswagen e-Up is officially back on the market

The electric Volkswagen e-Up is officially making its comeback. The compact EV will once again be on the order lists in Germany and will gradually be available again in other European countries.

Volkswagen closed the order books for the fully electric e-Up in 2020 and delivered new units that had already been ordered until last year. According to Volkswagen, the order stop was intended to eliminate backlogs, because the delivery time ‘due to popularity’ had in some cases increased to 16 months. Now, as rumored recently, the order books are reopening and the e-Up is making a comeback. Volkswagen reports that its smallest EV in its home country Germany can be ordered new immediately and that order books will open again in other European countries over time.

At the time of writing, it is not yet known whether and when the e-Up can also be ordered new in the Netherlands. Logically, it is only a matter of time before we can sign for a new e-Up again. AutoWeek is awaiting a response from the importer.

In any case, it remains a familiar story. The e-Up is still equipped with an 83 hp electric motor and has a WLTP range of 258 kilometers. Fast charging is possible with a CCS connection, with which the battery can be charged to 80 percent of its capacity within an hour with a charging capacity of 40 kW. You can charge with 7.2 kW of power on the AC charger and it takes just over four hours to recharge the battery to 80 percent. In Germany, the e-Up will cost at least €26,985. As mentioned, Dutch market information is currently unknown.
