Limited edition will be revealed on May 31

Volkswagen throws a teaser video onto the web showing a limited version of the Volkswagen Golf R: the Golf R 333, with – in all probability – 333 hp. On May 31, the Germans pull the curtain on the limited edition bright yellow Golf.
Anyone who currently wishes to order a Volkswagen Golf R will be disappointed. The model initially came on the market with a 320 hp version of the well-known 2.0 TSI, and was later only available as a 333 hp jubilee edition – as such, the Golf R was even more expensive than the technically related Audi S3. If you now look in Volkswagen’s Dutch configurator, there is no Golf R to be found at all. Although that could soon change. On May 31, Volkswagen will pull the curtain on the Golf R 333, a ‘limited edition’ of the four-wheel drive Golf with – we suspect – 333 hp and an (optional) bright yellow metallic paint.
It remains to be seen how many Volkswagens Golf R 333 the brand will produce and whether the car will also be available in the Netherlands. The probably extra richly decorated Golf will in any case have black striping and letters on its sides, black mirror caps, a unique paint and the previously optional Akrapovic exhaust system. At the end of the month we will tell you how the car distinguishes itself and whether you can buy one.
