Since November last year, the Volkswagen Golf has also been available as a mighty R. Until now, we only know it as a hatchback, but of course the Variant also undergoes the R treatment. The new Golf R Variant rolls its 320 hp muscle bundles during cold tests in the snow. Fortunately there are pictures of that.
There are clear indications that Volkswagen has an extra powerful 334 hp superlative of the Golf R in the barrel. Until then, the 320 hp Golf R is the absolute top version. It is already available as a hatchback, but is just as before as a Variant on the market. We can show you yet another piece of evidence of that today.
Volkswagen Golf R (hatchback)
The Golf Variant R will undoubtedly receive the same 320 hp and 420 Nm of 2.0 TSI as its hatchback brother, a power source that distributes its power to all four wheels via a DSG automatic transmission and 4Motion all-wheel drive. The hatchback thus pops to 100 km / h in just 4.7 seconds. This Golf Variant R will set a similar time during its 0-100 sprint. From the outside, the station wagon can be recognized by its sporty designed bumper work all around. The Golf Variant in these photos is clearly closer to the earth’s crust than its less potent siblings and is built on sturdy light metal behind which seemingly large and even perforated brake discs with blue claws hide behind them. At the bottom of the rear there is another obvious R-characteristic: this Variant has double exhaust pipes on both sides of its rear bumper. So four pieces in total.
The new Volkswagen Golf R Variant will probably not be long in coming. We expect the practical powerhouse on the Dutch market in the middle of this year.
