For now only one copy

The Volkswagen ID Buzz was recently given a roadside assistance jacket and now the electric bus is also donning a different ‘uniform’. This is the first ID Buzz dressed as an ‘ambulance’, although it seems a bit more than it really is.
The Volkswagen ID Buzz is still a rare sight on Dutch roads, but this copy is certainly not to be missed if you come across it. This ID Buzz is completely wrapped in the well-known ambulance colors on the outside and also equipped with some fairly subtle flashing lights. They are not on the roof, as you are used to, but behind the windows so as not to negatively affect the streamline.
According to the official reading, the ID Buzz is not a real ambulance. This is an Officer of the Medical Service Vehicle. With this, the OvDG, for example, drives to incidents if coordination is required. Medical care is therefore not provided from or in the ID Buzz.
Moreover, for the time being it concerns a one-off adjustment of an ID Buzz, carried out by Visser, a conversion specialist of emergency vehicles in Leeuwarden, on behalf of UMCG Ambulance Care. “We are currently testing it as an OvDG vehicle, among other things. At the same time, we are also investigating its qualities as a GP car for our sister MAI Medical Services, for home and site visits in the region,” says Ben Hendriks, coordinator of mobility and ALS ambulance driver at UMCG Ambulance Care. If you like it, maybe more will follow. In any case, you can already come across this copy in Drenthe and Friesland.
