The Volkswagen Jetta is still very much alive in markets far away. The American Jetta is already available as a sporty GLI and that version is now extra thickly dressed.
In markets where they are still waiting for sedans, the Volkswagen Jetta continues happily for the time being. This is also the case in the US, although the sales of regular sedans there are also declining considerably. However, that does not prevent Volkswagen from bringing the Jetta even more to the attention with this special version, which goes by the name ‘Blue Lagoon’. The sportiest Jetta, the GLI, forms the basis for this retrospective of a special Jetta from the beginning of this century.

Just like the Jetta GLI in the Blue Lagoon color of the time, a version of the car sold to us as Bora, the car is enthroned on BBS alloy, has the striking blue color and ensures thicker bumpers and a subtle spoiler on the tailgate. for the necessary extra decoration. In the interior we see, among other things, Recaro sports seats and a striking ‘golf ball’ gear lever. Of course we also know that from ‘our’ Golf GTI.
Technically it stays with the standard story. The Jetta GLI has a 228 hp version of the 2.0 TSI in the nose and has brakes and rear suspension that we know here from the previous Golf GTI and Golf R. For the time being it seems to be a study model, but it would not surprising if Volkswagen brings a limited edition of it to the American market.
