From here to Moscow and back
In the little five years that the Volkswagen T-Roc has been on the international market, Volkswagen has built 1 million units. About 2 percent of all T-Rocs produced worldwide are driving around in the Netherlands.
Volkswagen expanded its crossover range in 2017 with the T-Roc. Like the Tiguan, the T-Roc shares its genes with the Golf, but with its flatter rear window and somewhat more playful design, it is less SUV-like than the Tiguan. Volkswagen is doing good business with the T-Roc. In the little five years that the car has been built, Volkswagen has produced one million copies. A total of 21,322 units have been registered in the Netherlands since the end of 2017, which means that 2.13 percent of all T-Rocs are driving around in the Netherlands.
A million cars. That is, of course, a number that is difficult to imagine. If you were to park those million Volkswagens T-Roc in a row, a traffic jam of at least 4,230 kilometers would arise. That is from Utrecht to Moscow. And back again. But we wrote ‘minimum’ 4,230 kilometers. For that calculation we used the length of the European version of the T-Roc, which is 4.23 meters long. In China, the FAW-Volkswagen partnership sells a T-Roc with a longer wheelbase and greater car length. For example, the wheelbase of the Chinese T-Roc at 2.68 meters is exactly 9 centimeters larger than that of the European model. In addition, the Chinese T-Roc is more than 8 centimeters longer than the known variant here. The Chinese T-Roc will soon get a completely new buttocks. The T-Roc is also available as a Cabriolet, a variant that is about 3.5 centimeters longer than the closed variant and that – remarkably enough – also has a slightly longer (+4 centimeters) wheelbase.
Of all 21,322 T-Rocs registered in the Netherlands, 411 are T-Roc Convertibles. In the Netherlands, the Volkswagen T-Roc is available with a 110 hp 1.0 TSI and with a more powerful 1.5 TSI that delivers 150 hp. Previously, the T-Roc was also available with TDI diesel engines, as a 190 hp 2.0 TDI and even as a 300 hp T-Roc R. At the end of 2021, both the T-Roc and T-Roc Cabrio went under the knife in the Netherlands.
