Later this year, Volkswagen will pull the curtain off the Taigo, a completely new crossover for the European market with a relatively steeply sloping roofline. The new Volkswagen Taigo can be seen on this set of spy stickers without any form of camouflage material.
Later this year, Volkswagen will launch a model on the European market that is equally well known in South America. In May 2020, Volkswagen presented the Nivus in Brazil, a compact crossover with a sloping roofline, about which Volkswagen immediately reported that it would also come to Europe later. Recently, Volkswagen released the first design sketches of that car intended for the European market, a crossover that will be called Taigo in our region. That Volkswagen Taigo has already been caught without any form of sheet metal concealing camouflage material.
Volkswagen Nivus (South America)
To be fair: the design of the Volkswagen Taigo will not surprise anyone. The European Taigo seems to be almost identical to the already known Nivus. The Taigo, however, gets slightly different headlights and a grille that deviates in detail. There are also small differences at the back. Similarly, the layout of the lighting on the back of the Taigo is slightly different from that of the South American original. The rear lights are connected by a red LED strip, which is only interrupted by the Volkswagen logo.
Volkswagen Taigo (Europe)
The Taigo, like the Polo and T-Cross, stands on a variant of the MQB platform called A0. If the dimensions of the Taigo match those of the Nivus, that means that the Taigo will also be 4.27 meters long. That would make it about 16 centimeters longer than the T-Cross. The wheelbase of the Taigo is the same as that of the T-Cross except a few millimeters and is 2.57 meters. In theory, it is conceivable that the Taigo will be slightly shorter than the South American version, since the South American version of the T-Cross, like its Taigun brother in China, has a four-centimeter longer wheelbase than the European version. , although it is not likely.
In any case, count on the arrival of well-known 1.0 TSI petrol engines, three-cylinders that are available in the T-Cross in 95 hp and 110 hp form. In contrast to the Nivus, the Taigo will soon not run in São Bernardo do Campo, Brazil, but in Pamplona, located in Spain.
