As a car manufacturer you can’t have enough crossovers in the range these days. Volkswagen is expanding with the Taigo, a crossover with a sloping roofline of which we can now inform you of the prices.
The crossover and SUV range from Volkswagen is not exactly sparse. The brand has the T-Cross, the T-Roc, the T-Roc Cabrio, the Tiguan, Tiguan Allspace and the electric ID4. But it’s not enough. The T-Cross gets a sister model with a more steeply sloping roofline, the Taigo presented earlier this year. For the time being, Volkswagen is asking at least €28,590 for the Taigo that will be available at dealers from January.
For now, indeed. That price of €28,590 applies to the Taigo with 95 hp 1.0 TSI, executed as Life. Shortly after the market launch, there will be a nameless entry-level version with the same motorization. The 95 hp 1.0 TSI is always coupled to a five-speed manual transmission. If you want the Taigo in this configuration as a Life Business, you will lose at least €28,890.
Like its brother T-Cross, Volkswagen also supplies the Taigo with a 110 hp version of the 1.0 TSI. This machine can be combined with a six-speed manual transmission, but also with a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission. In addition to the Life and Life Business versions, you can also go for the Style, R-Line and R-Line Business+. The Taigo with 110 hp TSI and six-speed manual transmission costs at least €30,590 as a Life. For the version with automatic transmission, you will lose at least €32,590. Even then you drive the Life version.
For those who find the 110 hp 1.0 TSI not sufficient, Volkswagen has the 150 hp 1.5 TSI on offer. This petrol engine always sends its power to the front wheels via the DSG transmission. The starting price of the Volkswagen Taigo with 1.5 TSI is €38,840. Mind you, then you immediately have the Style version.

Dimensions
With a length of 4.27 meters, the Taigo is 16 centimeters longer than the T-Cross, but has a wheelbase only a few millimeters longer (2.57 meters). It is striking that the Taigo is even 3 centimeters longer than the higher positioned T-Roc. The luggage compartment of the Taigo has a capacity of 438 liters. The T-Cross likes 385 liters in the base, but thanks to a sliding rear seat it can carry up to 455 liters.
