The Volvo 300 series and the Netherlands are of course inextricably linked. Still, it seems that this copy has only recently made our roads a little more fun. In any case, he cannot be missed with such a special color.
Because of the once large number of Volvo’s 300 series that our roads were rich, it is certainly no stranger to this section. We already stopped at a 343 twice, one from 1976 and one from 1979. Also, a facelifted and thus 340 named three-door passed by. Thanks to René Annevelink we can now add a 345 to the list. Rene, thanks for the pictures!
Of the already treated pre-facelift Volvo’s 300 series, this is apparently the neatest. At least the most striking. The salmon pink color ensures that. Moreover, it still stands on neat original steel wheels. Don’t be fooled by the ‘DL’ on the tailgate: it simply has the 1.4 Cléon-Fonte petrol engine in the nose and no diesel engine. DL was the version, which was halfway on the price list in 1980, below the GL and above the Luxe.
Although this 345 naturally started its life in the Netherlands – Volvo had the ‘Daf heritage’ built in Born – it seems that this copy has only recently returned to the Netherlands. In May of this year, the 345 was put on its current license plate, according to the AutoWeek license plate check, because the car was then imported. Welcome back!
