Volvo electrifies all engines S60 and XC60

Volvo S60

Volvo electrifies the full engine range of the S60 and XC60. The sedan and SUV are only available as a mild hybrid and plug-in hybrid.

Volvo changes the engine range of the S60 and XC60 considerably. With the S60, the current petrol versions T4 and T5 are fitted with mild hybrid technology, with a small electric motor that supports the fuel engine. The versions are renamed B4 (197 hp) and B5 (250 hp). In addition, the range is expanded with the 163 hp B3 entry-level engine, which reduces the starting price by 1,500 euros. Also new is that the S60, which until now was only available as a sporty R-Design, can now be ordered as an Inscription. This version is equipped as standard with leather upholstery, an electrically adjustable driver’s seat, seat and steering heating, Apple CarPlay, keyless opening and starting, LED headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels.

XC60: mild hybrid in, diesel fuel out

Volvo no longer supplies the XC60 with a diesel engine. The D4 engine version, which was available with or without mild hybrid support, clears the field. The T4 petrol engine is just like the S60 B4 and is therefore equipped with mild hybrid technology. The XC60 was already available as B5, nothing changes. New in the range is the T6 plug-in hybrid version with 340 hp, as a cheaper alternative to the T8 plug hybrid.

For both the S60 and XC60, the standard equipment of most versions has been expanded with a package of active driver assistance systems, including blind spot detection, a system that warns of intersecting traffic, semi-autonomous driving function and cruise control with distance radar.
