Electric XC90 successor on the way

Volvo EX90 has been looking around the corner for a while

Volvo will present the fully electric EX90 next week. Before that, the Swedes – not for the first time – present some teaser image. This time from the outside of the EX90.

Volvo has a good taste for teasing the EX90, the all-electric SUV that succeeds the XC90 in most markets. Last month we first got to see details of the interior, then it went a step further and the entire dashboard came into view. Now Volvo treats us for the first time to some teasing plates of the exterior. To be fair, that’s no big surprise anymore, but we don’t want to let it pass you by.

As can already be seen despite the foggy environment in which the EX90 is located, it will not be a rigorously differently designed car in terms of basic shapes than the XC90. The front is again characterized by Thor hammer headlamps, although there is no longer a grille on the EX90 and the headlamps are more pointed in shape than on the EX90. It is also striking how the diagonal chrome strip belonging to the logo is recessed into the nose (see photo below).

At the back, the genes of the XC90 also shine through in the EX90. The shape of the rear lights is also known, although the EX90 will have units cut into two parts, with a C-shape at the bottom and a separate element parallel to the rear window above it. Furthermore, recessed door handles are of course included and Volvo is getting a completely new wheel design for the EX90.

On November 9, next Wednesday, Volvo will pull the curtain on the EX90. Want to read more about what we expect from this newcomer? Then be sure to read our extensive preview with predictive illustrations.
