There is no car without parts

After Tesla, Volvo is also forced to temporarily shut down a European car factory due to the situation in and around the Red Sea. This time the consequences are even closer to home, namely in Ghent, Belgium.
Volvo closes the Ghent factory, where the XC40, C40 and V60 are made, for three consecutive days. According to Reuters, this will happen next week and is necessary because the delivery of much-needed parts is being significantly delayed due to the escalation in and around the Red Sea. Since Israel responded to Hamas’ attacks in Gaza in October, Houthi rebels in the area have been attacking ships that the group claims are affiliated with Israel ‘in solidarity with Hamas’.
Earlier today, the United States and the United Kingdom, with the support of the Netherlands and others, responded to those attacks, but all in all the situation in the Red Sea is not calming down. Tesla also indicated today that it is temporarily halting European production. There seems to be a good chance that the war in the Middle East will also cause problems for other brands.
