Volvo is doing well. The Swedish brand again recorded sales and profit growth in 2019 compared to a year earlier. A new sales record was also reached.
One brand comes earlier with the figures for the previous year than the other, but the picture is also known at Volvo. In 2019 no less than 705,452 new Volvo cars went to their first owner. This is considerably more than last year’s 642,253 and the first time that Volvo sold more than 700,000 cars. Revenues also rose, to be precise by 8.5 percent. Converted 25.97 billion euros from Volvo. At the bottom, 1.34 billion euros in profit remained, 0.8 percent more than last year.
Volvo attributes the growth mainly to the increasing demand for its SUVs and the effect of cost-saving measures at the start of last year. The brand saw its sales grow in Europe, the US and China. Volvo is particularly popular in China; there sales increased by no less than 18.7 percent compared to last year. Volvo also set new sales records in our neighboring countries, Belgium and Germany. 1986 is still the most successful year in the Netherlands. Then Volvo sold 29,056 cars here. Last year there were 16,326, only 27 more than in 2018.
The most sold Volvo of 2019 was the XC60. Of these, 204,981 went to the first owner. The second site is followed by the XC40 (139,847) and in third place is the XC90 (100,729). The V60, S60, S90 and V90 follow (in that order) afterwards. The V40, now by far the oldest Volvo in the range, is at the bottom of the list. Of these, 51,542 still left.
