Volvo V60 mild hybrid even more efficient

Volvo V60 2022

The Volvo V60 gets a technical upgrade. The petrol engines make the mild hybrid even more efficient, at the same starting price. A further developed automatic transmission also ensures lower road tax.

We start this week with welcome news: the performance of the mild hybrid versions (B3 and B4) of the Volvo V60 is increasing, emissions and fuel consumption are reduced, and you as a driver will now have to pay less in running costs. All this is possible thanks to a technical upgrade.

Volvo now applies the so-called Miller cycle to the two-litre petrol engines with 48 Volt mild hybrid system. With this technique, the compression ratio of the engine is increased without energy loss, resulting in lower fuel consumption while preserving power. The B3 engine still has the same 163 horsepower and maximum torque of 265 Nm, but the sprint from 0-100 km/h is faster: in 8.6 seconds instead of 9.1 counts. The same goes for the B4 engine (197 hp, 300 Nm): from 8.0 to 7.6 seconds.

More good news

The CO2 emissions per kilometer fall to 147 and 148 g/km respectively. That is just below the maximum limit of 150 g/km that more and more companies use for a company car. But there is even more good news. Volvo introduces the 7-DCT Evo transmission, a further development of the seven-speed dual clutch gearbox. The improvements applied help to reduce fuel consumption, speed up shift times and reduce vehicle weight. As a result of the latter, both the B3 and the B4 version now fall into a lower – read: cheaper – road tax category.

Prices remain unchanged. You order the Volvo V60 B3 from 40,995 euros and the B4 from 47,995 euros. Production of the renewed V60 B3 and B4 will start in mid-October.
