Volvo is pulling the dust comb through the model range and that means that engine versions for various models are lost. The Volvo XC60 and all models of the 90 series are now only available with plug-in hybrid powertrains. But more changes!

Volvo says it is streamlining its Dutch model range. This has major consequences for the XC60, V60, V90 and XC90. All conventional petrol and diesel engines will be removed from the price list. From now on, these cars are only available with plug-in hybrid powertrains. Prepare yourself for further simplification of the Volvo range. The brand reports that simplifying the offer will play an increasingly important role in the coming years. Fewer versions, fewer packages, fewer options and, above all, fewer engine versions. Volvo also puts a big line through the V90 Cross Country.

AutoWeek could previously tell you exclusively that the XC40, XC60 and XC90 will dive into the new model year with new versions. The familiar Momentum, Inscription and R-Design flavors were dropped for those cars and were replaced by the Essential, Core and Ultimate versions. The Core and Ultimate flavors can be combined with a Bright or Dark exterior style. Thanks to the black design elements that this line brings to the models, the Dark version can more or less be seen as a replacement for the R-Design label. Volvo now confirms that this will apply to all models.

More news? Secure. Volvo specifically gives the V60 an extremely subtle refresh, with the front being slightly revised and the exhausts hidden from view from now on. Volvo also reports a mild facelift for the XC40. For the fervent visitor of AutoWeek.nl, that car is of course no longer news. We were able to show you the XC40 now equipped with the nose of the C40 in November and shortly afterwards we shared the exclusive prices with you that Volvo is now officially releasing.

The Volvo XC60 now has a starting price of €62,495. For that amount you get the XC60 Recharge T6 AWD Plug-in Hybrid with which you can drive up to 78 kilometers electrically. The XC90 has a starting price of €87,495 as a T8 Recharge (Core), but we were also able to report that earlier.
