Volvo makes a small series of changes to the XC90. The SUV that was facelifted last year will soon have to do without the availability of a diesel engine.
Last year, the Volvo XC90 went under the knife and the brand also introduced the B5 petrol engine. Volvo uses the letter ‘B’ to indicate that it is an engine version with mild hybrid technology on board, and does not distinguish between petrol and diesel versions. The petrol B5 came to stand next to the already existing diesel B5. Volvo follows the line it already started with the S60 and recently with the redesigned S90 and V90. The XC90 is now also no longer available with a diesel engine.
This leaves one more mild-hybrid XC90: the B5 petrol version that has a basic 2.0 hp and 350 Nm on board, which thanks to electrical support will temporarily have 14 hp and 40 Nm extra. This engine version was introduced at the end of last year as a replacement for the T5. The machine is in all cases a copy with eight gears. The B5 changes ownership as a Business Pro from € 83,995. The Inscription and R-Design versions cost € 87,995 and € 88,995 respectively.
Volvo also supplies the XC90 as a 390 hp Recharge T8, the plug-in hybrid that is the only engine version that can be chosen for the XC90 with six instead of seven seats. For this six-seater, which is always designed as an Inscription, Volvo asks € 87,995. The regular seven-seater is available in three flavors and is always just as expensive as the similarly executed B5. This means that here too the Business Pro costs € 83,995 and that the Inscription and R-Design are charged € 87,995 and € 88,995 respectively.
Equipment improved
Volvo extends the standard equipment of the XC90 with IntelliSafe Surround with Blind Spot Information System, which means that all safety systems are factory fitted to the SUV. The Business Pro now comes standard with Keyless Drive, DAB + radio and a heated steering wheel. In this version, the Recharge T8 now comes standard with features such as four-zone climate control, parking heating and Inscription version trim elements. Good news for the XC90 T8: The 18- and 19-inch alloy versions feature new tires with lower rolling resistance that reduce CO2 emissions from 50 to 48 g / km. Because the XC90 will fall below 50 g / km, the car will in any case be eligible for the MRB’s half rate until 2024. Volvo also gives the XC90 a new audio system from Bowers & Wilkins. The top speed of the XC90 is now also 180 km / h.
