Do you want to watch movies and series with the whole family? In this guide, we’ll show you how to watch Netflix, Disney Plus, Apple TV Plus, and other services for less. These five streaming services are for the family.
5 streaming services for the whole family
1. Apple TV Plus
Apple TV Plus is taking shape. The streaming service is full of unique films and series that were commissioned by the iPhone maker and that you can’t watch anywhere else. Check our Apple TV Plus review for an extensive discussion of all the pros and cons.
You can use Apple TV Plus with up to five others. Simply take out a subscription and set up ‘Family Sharing’. Then you can use a total of one Apple TV Plus subscription with six people.
You take out an Apple TV Plus subscription via the TV app on your Apple device.
2. Amazon Prime Video
Amazon Prime Video is not yet very popular in the Netherlands, but that is different worldwide. Amazon’s video service is getting more and more good films and series in its catalog and seems to become a major competitor for Netflix, for example, in the coming years.
However, large families should look further at other streaming services. With Amazon Prime Video, you can watch movies and series with up to three devices at the same time.
3. Disney Plus
Disney Plus only offers one type of subscription, unlike Netflix, for example. The only difference is the payment term. You can pay per month or tap directly for an annual subscription.
Then you can add up to seven profiles to Disney Plus, including special kid profiles for your little one. That way, everyone in your household can create their own watch lists. You can watch at the same time on up to four screens at the same time.
4. Netflix
Want to share Netflix with others? Which can. Netflix offers three types of subscriptions. With the Basic subscription you can only watch movies or series on one screen at a time. This option is therefore not suitable for families, because when someone watches Netflix on the TV in the living room, for example, another family member cannot watch on her/his laptop.
You are therefore better off with the Standard or Premium account from Netflix. With the former, you can watch on up to two screens at the same time. With Netflix Premium, this number is four. So you can watch the same Netflix account in the living room, on a laptop and two phones at the same time.
5. Video Country
Videoland is RTL’s alternative to Netflix. You can also share a subscription with others. You can create a total of five profiles under one Videoland account, including the main profile. It then differs per subscription on how many screens you can watch at the same time, just like with Netflix.
Do you have a Videoland Basic subscription (with advertising)? Then you can watch on one device at a time. The Plus subscription adds a screen to this, so you can watch on the TV and laptop at the same time. The Videoland Premium subscription lets you use the service on four devices at the same time.
