Just install! Apple solves a battery problem on the Apple Watch with watchOS 10.5, making it important to download the update as soon as possible.
Battery issue in watchOS 10.4
Apple released watchOS 10.4 in March, bringing a number of new features to the Apple Watch. Since the update, you can double-tap to fully reveal a notification, and Apple Pay is protected with a passcode if you Assistive Touch used. Unfortunately, the update not only brought fixes, but also created a new problem. Users complained that the Apple Watch ran out of power much faster. This was also the case with newer smartwatches, the battery lasted much less long than before installing watchOS 10.4. That is why Apple has now released a new update, because the battery problem has been resolved in watchOS 10.5.
Install watchOS 10.5
On May 13, Apple released watchOS 10.5. In the description of the update, Apple does not mention the battery problem, but it appears that the bug has indeed been resolved. Does the battery of your Apple Watch drain much faster since watchOS 10.4? Then we recommend updating as soon as possible, because in the latest watchOS version you will no longer be affected by the problem. Updating is done as follows:
- Open the Watch app on your iPhone;
- Go to ‘General > Software update’;
- Download and install watchOS 10.5.
To update the Apple Watch, the smartwatch must be at least 50 percent charged and connected to WiFi. In addition, your iPhone must be updated to the latest iOS version. Do you have an Apple Watch Series 6 or newer? Then you can also update the smartwatch without taking out your iPhone. To do this, go to the settings on your Apple Watch and choose ‘General > Software update > Install’.
New features in watchOS 10.5
With watchOS 10.5, few new features come to your Apple Watch. You do get a special clock face that focuses on Pride 2024. This matches the new wallpaper that came to your iPhone with iOS 17.5, and the wallpaper that was introduced on the iPad with iPadOS 17.5. Furthermore, Apple has only implemented bug fixes in the latest watchOS update.

Apple will present watchOS 11 at WWDC, which starts on Monday June 10. That day we will see all the new features of iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS 15 and watchOS 11.
