Watt Electric’s electric ‘Porsche 365’ ready for production

Watt Electric Vehicle Company is preparing a fully electric Porsche 356 lookalike. The company is now sharing more details about this simply called ‘Coupe’ creation and is ready for production.

Before Porsche enthusiasts are shocked and think that Watt Electric has rebuilt a real Porsche 356a: the ‘Coupe’ is an EV that has been newly developed from the ground up. We already got a taste of it at the beginning of February, now Watt Electric is sharing more information. The Coupe sits on a self-developed ‘Paces’ called EV platform and is equipped with a 164 hp electric motor that is placed above the rear axle. Although 164 hp is not an excessive amount of power, Watt Electric has managed to keep the weight of the Coupe under a ton thanks to a largely aluminum-made chassis and a lightweight composite body. That makes for nice performances. For example, the classically designed electric car sprints to 100 km / h in just about 5 seconds. Watt Electric also promises that the weight distribution is optimal, 50:50.

The Coupe draws its power from a battery pack with a capacity of 40 kWh. Because it is certainly not heavy for a BEV, you can get quite far with it when the battery is fully charged. Watt Electric states that around 370 km according to the WLTP cycle is possible. In addition to the low weight, the manufacturer also attributes this largely to the streamlined body. The source of inspiration, the Porsche 356, was already slippery for its time, but Watt Electric has adapted the design in detail to achieve even lower air resistance. For example, the chrome bumpers of the 356 have been omitted, the nose is more pointed and the Coupe is closer to the ground. For the time being, we only get to see the interior in a sketch and here too it is mainly a mixture of modern and classic, with the dashboard of the 356 as the greatest inspiration. Watt Electric promises modern conveniences such as air conditioning and mobile phone connectivity.

Now, after 10 months of testing with the prototype, it is time for production. Watt Electric starts with 21 ‘Launch Editions’ of the Coupe, which will be delivered from 2022. Those interested can sign for it now. The retro EV costs in the country of origin, the United Kingdom, converted at least around € 95,000.
