Interesting information was found by 9to5mac in the beta of tvOS 17.2 and tvOS 17.4. For example, the test versions show that Apple may be testing tvOS 17 on an iPad mini, which may indicate that Apple is working on a HomePod with a screen. In addition, a HomePod with a smaller LCD screen is also expected soon.
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo previously announced that Apple may want to release a redesigned HomePod with a 7 or 8-inch display in 2024. This allows you to operate the HomePod not only with voice, but also directly from the display. The screen can then show all kinds of information and Apple wants to compete with the Google Nest Hub. This allows Apple to achieve deeper integration with the other hardware products and dramatically simplify usage.

Two years ago, Apple introduced ‘Tap to Pay’ in the United States, among others, and since August 2023 the payment option can also be used in the Netherlands. This allows retailers and catering operators, among others, to use their iPhone as a PIN device without the need for additional hardware.
With ‘Tap to Pay on iPhone’ it is possible to receive iPhone payments via NFC. The feature will not be added to iOS by default, but developers can take advantage of it so they can customize their app to make it possible. The function is available at Rabobank, Adyen, Bunq and SumUp, among others.
