Last week, Apple released software updates, it became clear that iOS 19 may get a completely new design inspired by Visionos and will be Apple’s largest iPhone update ever! In addition, iOS 18.4 is supported for robot vacuum cleaners in the home app and HomeKit users may be obliged to update to the new architecture.

During WWDC 25, Apple iOS 19 will announce for iPhone and iPados 19 for iPad. The successor to MacOS Sequoia will also be revealed. IOS 19 and iPados 19 in particular may undergo a major change with possibly a completely new design inspired by Visionos.

Bloomberg reports that iOS 19 ‘will be one of the most drastic software visions’ in the history of Apple. This includes design changes, new functions and more. According to the report, iOS 19 ‘will be the biggest renewal since iOS 7’ in 2013.

Since the spring of 2023, users can switch to the new architecture of HomeKit. This was not mandatory, but to be able to use new options and possibilities, among other things, an update was necessary.

The new architecture has improved the performance of HomeKit. According to Apple, this mainly yields a faster response time for homes that use many accessories. But the overall performance also improves this. The update is without obligation, but soon necessary to be able to use HomeKit further.

With the announcement of iOS 18 it was already clear that the home app is receiving support for smart robot vacuum cleaners. The Matter protocol is used for this. Unfortunately, Apple should have postponed the addition of robot vacuum cleaners to 2025.

Unfortunately, that is not the only bad news we have to say. Not only does the support be waiting, for the time being the smart robots only work in English in combination with Siri. This means that when your device is set in Dutch, you cannot use the robots.
