iPhone 16 Pro: Larger screen, premium camera system, camera button, A18 Pro and more

During the It’s Glowtime event, Apple announced the iPhone 16 (Plus), iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The latest generation iPhone features a renewed design with a larger screen and is of course still made of titanium.
Additionally, the Pro models benefit from a super-fast A18 Pro processor for Apple Intelligence, a renewed and premium camera system with a pressure-sensing camera control button. Battery life has been improved with support for superfast 25W wireless charging via MagSafe. The phone is available for pre-order from September 13.

Last Monday, Apple held a special online event where they revealed a few new products. The most important announcement was of course the iPhone 16 (Plus), iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The Apple Watch series 10 and AirPods 4th generation also stole the show. In addition, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 and AirPods Max were provided with new colors. Apple also announced the release date for iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, among others. In this summary, we briefly summarize all the facts and report the most notable changes in the online Apple Store. Just like every year, Apple is releasing a major software update for all its major devices this fall, including the iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Watch. During WWDC 2024, Apple introduced us to iOS 18, iPadOS 18, macOS Sequoia, tvOS 18, and watchOS 11, but when will these updates be available?
During the iPhone 16 event, Apple also announced when we can install these updates. We don’t have to wait long, because the first versions will be released next week for iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch.
iPhone 16 models can charge up to 25W with new MagSafe

Apple has improved MagSafe wireless charging in the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro by increasing the maximum capacity. Wireless charging is now as fast as charging with a USB-C cable. You will need a new MagSafe charger and a power adapter of at least 30W.
Together with the iPhone 12 (Pro) series, MagSafe was introduced. Apple’s own solution for the wireless charging protocol Qi that has been around for several years. Last year, Qi2 was launched and shows many similarities with the first generation MagSafe. Perhaps this was the reason for Apple to launch the second generation.
Apple releases firmware update for AirPods

Apple released a new firmware update for the AirPods Pro 2nd generation (with Lightning or USB-C charging case) last week. The new version number is 7A294 and it introduces new AirPods features that will be available starting with iOS 18.
On the Apple website you can read in a support document (Dutch) which improvements and solutions Apple has implemented and/or new options have been added. The AirPods are automatically provided with the new firmware, manual updating is unfortunately a difficult task.
Physical button is missing on AirPods 4, replaced by a touch-sensitive button

Since the introduction of the first-generation AirPods, the charging case has used a physical button on the back. With the AirPods 4th generation, Apple has replaced this with a hidden capacitive button.
This is a touch-sensitive button that works by detecting the change in capacitance when a conductive object, such as a finger, touches it. This button allows you to restore your AirPods or connect them to another device. Additionally, the status light is now hidden when not in use.

The iPhone 16 Pro (Max) features the most innovations, with a larger display, A18 Pro chip and professional camera functions. The iPhone 16 has been given the action button and A18 chip, among other things. All four models benefit from a longer battery life, improved camera, camera controller and MagSafe with 25 W.
