Well-known car designer Aldo Brovarone passed away

A big name has left the car industry: Aldo Brovarone has passed away at the age of 94. He was responsible for the design of a number of well-known and widely loved cars.

In his long life, Brovarone, who was born in Vigliano Biellese in the North of Italy, was at the cradle of many high-profile cars. In the 1950s he was hired as a promising designer by Pininfarina, where he then put some of his most famous designs on paper. At first mainly for Italian brands, such as Ferrari and Alfa Romeo, but later Peugeot was also added.

The focus of his portfolio lies in the 1960s, when the designs of the legendary Ferraris Dino, 500 Superfast and 365 GT 2 + 2 were developed under his leadership. In the early 1970s he rose to a top position in the design house and became Pininfarina’s chief designer. Brovarone was also given the task of putting the 504 and 604 on paper due to an outsourcing from Peugeot. According to many, two of the most beautiful Peugeots ever. Especially the 504 Coupé can still get their hands on each other and Peugeot itself recently came up with the e-Legend inspired by that popularity.

Brovarone continued to work at Pininfarina until the 1980s and was still active behind the drawing board after his retirement. Then the small Italian Stola managed to seduce him to draw some striking cars. The Abarth Monotipo (photo 7), S82 Spyder (photo 8) and Barchetta Dedica (photo 9) were designed by Brovarone.
