Restlessness, sleep problems and headaches – many of us are familiar with stress from everyday life. At the same time we ask ourselves what can help us out of this eternal cycle. In the past, the great social relevance also encouraged science to deal in detail with the topic. In this article we will look at what we can take with us for our own lives.

When stress becomes a problem

If we take a closer look at stress as a natural phenomenon, we can see its real meaning. The reaction of our nervous system was once there to be able to cope better with dangers in everyday life. The certain tension gives us a sharper focus for some time and we are more able to face problems. What was able to ensure survival in the early days is of less importance these days.

Many of us take advantage of moderate stress in order to be able to do certain tasks in our professional life under pressure. For us, the condition becomes a problem when we no longer have a balance. In this case, a strong psychological reaction quickly occurs. For example, we are no longer able to relax completely at the end of a long day at work. Certain tasks and projects still haunt our minds.

If you suffer from chronic stress, this effect is also noticeable on the physical level. Even the entire aging process can be accelerated significantly if we can no longer manage to escape the stress. This is one of the reasons why it is so important to face this problem as soon as possible.

Realize the value of the breaks

A first step we can take against too much stress is adjusting our breaks. Many of us only switch off during the day if there happens to be a gap between several appointments. We then take this as an opportunity to come up with a few other thoughts and, for example, pick up the smartphone.

On the one hand, the activity we choose is not ideal during such a break. We could relax a lot better if, for example, we took a walk in the fresh air.

On the other hand, we should give the breaks in our diary the same importance as we give them to our appointments. This way we can remind ourselves again and again that it is actually time to take a break.

Use aids

In other cases it is small and large tools that can help us cope with stress. In the past few years, for example, there has been a great boom in CBD. This is a non-intoxicating component of the hemp plant. Due to its versatile effects, this is examined in detail by science. On the one hand, CBD is suspected of being helpful for sleep problems and mild inflammation. On the other hand, the active ingredient is said to have a relaxing effect. More information about CBD (cannabidiol) can be found on this page.

However, this is not the only form a stress management tool can take. Others, for example, rely on a small talisman that is carried in a bag every day. The idea is to have a few relaxing thoughts every time your hand goes into your pocket. This, too, can be a good way of avoiding the long-term exposure to stress in everyday life as much as possible.

Sport and exercise

In what other areas does science provide an answer to how we can address stress? The positive influence of sport and exercise is now considered proven. It is an important addition to everyday life, especially for those people who do not do any physically demanding work.

Anyone who goes jogging every now and then can see this effect. The monotonous movement clears the head and, with a certain amount of practice, even offers the chance for a meditative confrontation with ourselves. The aspect of regularity is particularly important here. Of course, just a single unit that we do every few weeks is not enough to deal with the stress effectively.

Correct personal goals

What else helps in the end if we want to face the stress? In particularly drastic situations it will be necessary to take a close look at our personal goals. Perhaps we are asking too much of ourselves in this way to be able to cope with it with a certain looseness. In this case, an adjustment is important in order to avoid damage to health.

If all of these ideas do not help to improve the situation, a professional advice to be necessary. The stress therapy pursues a long-term concept that can significantly increase our well-being.
