What courses do you need to take to become a pilot of a small plane?

hello, i’m jordy and i’m 14 years old. my dream is to be a pilot. I would like to start with a small plane like a cessna. I heard that you can fly in Belgium from the age of 16, but that you can start studying early. is that true? if so, which courses should you follow in which flight schools are recommended?

Answer

Hi Jordan,

Everyone can visit a flying club. Lessons are often organized there in the evenings or at weekends on Saturdays.

Just jumping in is certainly possible, because in a club everyone is a bit of an aviation fanatic. The club members all share the same passion for flying.

Officially, such a flight school is called an RF, Registered Facility, a school recognized by the government (Federal Public Service Mobility, Directorate General Aviation).

In the flying club you can learn how an airplane is technically put together, how to navigate, how to talk to the control tower and how to fly safely in the airspace. Not bad! And of course you learn how to operate a device.

You can fly now! Of course always with an instructor, until you have reached a certain age, and then you can go (solo) on your own. An unforgettable feeling!

There are certainly flying clubs in your area, you can find them on the following page:

Go to a club and ask for a test flight. You will enjoy it!
