I often play with marbles and suddenly I thought: what are marbles made of? If it’s glass, it must be strong glass because it won’t break if dropped.

Marbles are indeed made of glass. They usually don’t break if you drop them, but that has not only to do with the material but also with the shape. A glass that you drop is much thinner and larger than such a convex marble.
