A lot of attention is paid to the appearance of cars, models have sleeker lines and generally look more sporty. The SUV has also made its entrance into the business market.
This time we don’t focus on the outside, but more on the inside of the car. Which innovations have been made for cars in the price category of € 20,000 to € 40,000 to optimize the driver’s experience? We look at the ten most commercially registered cars of the past six months.
Driver’s point of view central
Until recently, we saw on many models that the central display was positioned right in the middle of the dashboard. So, technically everyone in the car had a view of the screen. That’s nice, but in the end it’s the rider who has to use it. Now we see concepts for various brands to focus on the rider. Ford does this in the Focus (place 3), among other things, by adopting a ‘human-centric’ design philosophy and thus designing the car from the driver’s point of view. At Volvo, they have fully designed the XC40 (place 1) to the wishes of the driver on the basis of customer experiences. That is appreciated by the business drivers, the XC40 achieves the most business registrations.
Safely from A to B
By putting the driver’s point of view at the center of screen placement and controls, the rider can keep their eyes on the road. Ultimately, as a rider, you want to get from a to b safely. This is well implemented in the models from this top 10, they are equipped with various ADAS systems such as fatigue detection, lane assist and environmental reconnaissance.
The fact that business drivers consider safety systems important is apparent from the other models in this top 10. From the Volvo V60 (place 9) to the KIA Niro (place 2), safety plays an important role. The latter, de Niro, has created a label for this. They call this ‘DRIVE WiSE’ and, in addition to the aforementioned ADAS systems, it also includes blind spot detection and emergency braking assistance. Every brand has its own label or name for this, they have one thing in common, the comfortable and safe transport of the occupants from a to b.
