What is the chance of having twins?

Hello

I was wondering what are the chances of having twins?

My mother is a twin and there are more twins in my mother’s side of the family.

Twins also occur in my friend’s family.

I already have 1 child of my own but not with my current boyfriend,

now I would like to know if the probability is very high or if it is not so bad.

By the way, I’m 25 and my boyfriend 28.

Greetings

Answer

Best,

The chance of twins is 1 in 80. (1 in 8,000 for triplets).

If your mother is a twin, the chance that you will also have twins is higher: 1 in 50.

The chance of having twins also increases slightly with age, partly due to more fertility treatments and partly due to higher hormone levels (FSH) needed to ovulate. At your age, that chance is not yet increased.
