WhatsApp dissolves important privacy bug: This way your account is safe

There is an important privacy bug in WhatsApp that the company has finally solved, but you have to take action for that.

Bug in WhatsApp finally resolved

WhatsApp has a handy function for when you want to share something, but does not want it to exist. That function is called ‘one -off display’. With this function you send a photo or video to someone and after they have seen it, it is deleted forever.

That is at least how it should work. But a recently discovered bug ensured that recipients could view content from ‘one -off display’ as often as they wanted. The privacy bug has since been resolved, but you first have to update WhatsApp to version 25.2.3.

That’s how the bug worked

The privacy bug in WhatsApp was in one for the first time last week blog made public by CyberSecurity researcher Ramshath. It appears that it is extremely easy to abuse the bug. No technical knowledge is needed. If someone sends you a ‘one -off display’ image or video, you only have to go to ‘Settings> Storage and Data> Management Storage’ to gain access again. If you find the chat of the sender there and the storage sorts on ‘newest’, you can simply view the ‘one-off display’ content.

The bug in WhatsApp only applies to iPhone users, which of course is still a very large group. It is a fairly large privacy error of WhatsApp and parent company Meta. Ramshat claims that he has reported the problem to Meta via the so -called Bug Bounty-Program of the company. Meta says it was already aware of the problem and is working on a solution.

Bug in WhatsApp

The solution for this bug in WhatsApp is now, but you still have to update the app to version 25.2.3. To do that, go to the App Store, look for ‘WhatsApp’ and tap ‘Work at’.
